Why do boys always have more fun? Hangover this is not (seriously they don't even make it to Vegas), but Bridesmaids is a funny window into the drama that inevitably surrounds weddings and the drama that can be friendship among women. Yes gentlemen, sometimes we really are crazy bitches.
This film is focused on the life of one woman--Annie whose life is spinning of control which happens to coincide with the engagement and marriage of her best friend, Lillian. I won't put this into one of stereotypical movie categories as chick flick and romantic comedies are not the right fit. I think the motion picture industry assumes women only what to see love, hearts, flowers and a happily ever after. This film does none of that--thank you!Kristen Wiig does an excellent job in her role as Annie, a gal who has to deal with a crappy love life, weirdo roommates, a failed business, her bestie getting married and a bitch bridesmaid who thinks SHE should have been MOH. On the plus side, Annie gets nookie with the delicious John Hamm and a charming gentleman with an Irish accent. Seriously that alone kinda made me in luv with this movie...nothing better than a sweet guy with a hint of accent. *Huge Sigh* I digress...
Melissa McCarthy kinda steals the show in her portrayal of the whacky sister of the groom. Imagine a female version of Zach Galifianakis's character in Hangover only dirtier! She was fantastic and over the top, but not too over the top--unlike my least favorite scene in this film. Our bridesmaids were visiting a very high end bridal boutique to try on dresses. Let's just say there was a lot of white and a lot of bridesmaids experiencing food poisoning symptoms and leave it at that. I was curled up in my seat trying not to watch--I'm clearly not the audience for that kind of humor. I just feel like y'all should be warned about this before you watch.
Bottom line--this was some funny sh*t (pun intended). Do I think it was perfect? No, but I laughed consistently the entire way through the movie as did everyone else in the theater. It might find it's way into a gift bag of a wedding I'm involved in sometime in the future...

Luv ya Sierra, but I totally disagree. This movie wasn't funny at all. Maybe I'm the one missing a funny bone, but I found nothing amusing about a story of a sad sad girl, a ridiculous crew of bridesmaids (um, gratuitous girl on girl kiss, really?!?), and frankly one of the tackiest movie weddings ever. I have been a bridesmaids almost enough times to merit a movie of my own (not quite 27 Dresses) and I have never experienced even a fraction of the stupidity that occurred in this movie. Given the high movie ratings on this one, I'll probably stand alone in my opinion - but that's totally okay. I mean snarking is what we do best, right?
