Facebook is the new chain letter.

I’m an avid FB user so I’m not criticizing the site just the users. With increasing frequency I’m seeing profile photos and statuses being donated towards one cause or another. Red Ribbons for Aids, Purple to support the LGBT, Pink Ribbons for Breast Cancer and even today’s cause of the moment where folks change their profile photo to their favorite cartoon character to end child abuse. Really?!
Y’all think this makes you socially aware—WRONG. How about you stop posturing and find an organization that focuses on your cause and give them some money. If you really can’t spare the money, then give your time as a volunteer (although seriously I see you standing in line at Starbucks so clearly you have money to burn).
The point is that your passive “posts” don’t do anything other than make you look like a lemming. Put your money where your mouth is…or in this case where your keyboard is.

  1. Or don't don't give money, we're not the boss of you - I won't tell you what to do. That said, DO NOT pretend that some lame ass cartoon profile picture is making any kind of difference. I mean seriously folks, in the 5 minutes it took you to find your Rainbow Brite photo, several children were reported abused and neglected. Feel better now?
